Artist statement: For my project I knew that I wanted to do something to grow awareness for the ocean and ocean clean up. That stayed the same through out the whole project but my design ended up changing. Originally I was going to do it surfboard shaped but I unfortunately could not find a plausible way to make that work. So I decided to do half page zines because the ocean is huge and it is hugely important, so I wanted a large zine. I learned SOOOOO much while making these. I had no prior experiences with any of these programs and it was definitely a large learning curve at the start. By the end I noticed my self moving much quicker and much more efficiently. My biggest goal with this project was to just vastly communicate how much waste ends up in the ocean and how we need to take greater care of the ocean or we will destroy the ecosystem with in it. I think I did a really good job with this as I showed how multiple ecosystems are affected by waste. If I were to do something different I would really want to find a way to make the surfboard idea work. I also wanted to tie it together with plastic bottle rings but luckily unluckily I couldn't really find any at the store. So I tied it all together with string that is "from ocean cleanup". I am really happy with all that I learned and how my project ended up turning out; I am excited to share it with everyone.
